AfterSermon Privacy Policy

1. Overview

AfterSermon (“the App”) helps users import, trim, and transcribe sermon recordings; generate sermon-related resources; import DOCX files; and optionally synchronize saved sermon projects through Apple iCloud and CloudKit.

This policy explains what information AfterSermon processes, why it is processed, and the choices available to users.


2. Information We Process


User content

When you import, trim, or transcribe an audio or video recording, the App processes the file locally while you select and prepare it.

When you request transcription or resource generation, the applicable audio or text is transmitted through Supabase Edge Functions and processed using OpenAI services, including Whisper and language models.


AfterSermon does not persist submitted sermon audio or text in its Supabase database. OpenAI handles submitted content under the API data controls described below.


Account and subscription information

AfterSermon uses Sign in with Apple for account authentication. Apple may provide an email address, including an Apple private-relay address.


Supabase stores your account identifier, email address, AfterSermon plan status, and monthly usage totals so the App can authenticate you and provide the appropriate Free or Max access.


Apple processes App Store purchases and payment information. AfterSermon does not receive or store your payment-card information.


Usage and service information

To operate the AI features and enforce monthly limits, AfterSermon records information such as:

  • The feature requested
  • AI model used
  • Token or audio-minute totals
  • Processing time
  • Whether the request succeeded or failed
  • Estimated processing cost
  • Limited technical error details

These records may be linked to your AfterSermon account. They do not contain your sermon transcript or generated output and are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.


Generated content

Transcripts, summaries, study questions, devotionals, podcast scripts, and other generated resources are stored locally on your device. If iCloud is enabled, this content may synchronize through Apple CloudKit.


AfterSermon does not retain generated content in its Supabase database. Text inputs and generated responses may be retained by OpenAI in abuse-monitoring logs as described below.


iCloud synchronization

When iCloud is enabled, Apple may store and synchronize your sermon projects through CloudKit. This is managed through your Apple iCloud account and system settings.


3. Third-Party Services


AfterSermon uses the following service providers:

  • OpenAI: Processes audio and text for transcription and resource generation. AfterSermon disables application-state storage for text-generation requests. OpenAI documents no abuse-monitoring or application-state retention for its audio transcription endpoint. OpenAI states that text prompts and responses may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, or longer when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect its services or third parties. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API account holder opts in. See the OpenAI API Data Controls and OpenAI Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase: Provides account authentication, Edge Functions, and storage of plan and usage records.
  • Apple iCloud and CloudKit: Store and synchronize sermon projects when iCloud is enabled.
  • Apple App Store and StoreKit: Process AfterSermon Max subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and payments.


4. Consent for AI Processing

Before sermon content is transmitted for AI processing, AfterSermon explains that third-party AI services will process the content and requests your consent.


If you do not want your content processed by these providers, do not use the transcription or AI-generation features.

You can revoke AI-processing consent from the About AfterSermon screen. The App will request consent again before another transcription or resource-generation request.


5. Retention and Deletion

  • Processing and provider retention: AfterSermon does not persist submitted sermon audio or text in its Supabase database. OpenAI documents no retention for its audio transcription endpoint. For text-generation requests, AfterSermon disables application-state storage, but OpenAI may retain prompts and responses in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, with limited longer retention as described above.
  • Locally stored projects can be deleted within the App.
  • Content synchronized through iCloud is managed through the App and your Apple iCloud settings.
  • You can permanently delete your AfterSermon account and associated server-side plan and usage records from the Account area of the App.
  • Account deletion does not delete projects stored locally or in iCloud.
  • Account deletion does not cancel an active App Store subscription. Subscriptions must be managed separately through Apple.

6. Security

Information transmitted between the App, Supabase, OpenAI, and Apple services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but reasonable safeguards are used to protect the information handled by AfterSermon.


7. Advertising and Tracking

AfterSermon does not sell your information.


AfterSermon does not share your information with advertisers and does not use your information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.


8. Children’s Privacy

AfterSermon is not intended for children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has submitted personal information or recordings, contact us to request assistance with removal.

10. Policy Updates
